TOPIC: Summer Trout on Simcoe

Summer Trout on Simcoe 6 years 4 months ago #105

Father in Law and myself want to fish Simcoe this summer for trout

I have been given a few general locations (mouth of Kempenfelt Bay, between Snake Island and adjacent island) by some, but question the depth of this knowledge.

Also, if anyone has suggestions for baits to try, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

Just wondering why your after trout in Lake Simcoe. It's a great fishery and there are much better choices. Consider Whitefish, Bass, Perch or Pike. If you got a boat, try off Islands in South end of the Lake. Live bait is best - either three or four inch minnows or worms. If you want try slowly dragging tubes on bottom.
Anyway good luck.

Thanks for the reply

Lake trout is our choice as it is the fish out of simcoe that interests us most. Is your recommendation of dragging the bottom for other species of fish? or for lake trout?

thanks again

-We have usually found lakers off of Big Bay Point, and anywhere right across the mouth of the bay, good spot for whities too if you can get ontop of them.

-If you draw a diagnal line from Jacksons Point all the way to the north tip of Georgina Island, troll back in forth there. Should find a laker or two.

-Crazy enough on the ICE last year, a few lakers crusised under us while we were perch fishing in about 28 feet of water, this was on the east side of the Island. About a 1KM stright north out of the Pefferlaw River.

Simcoe's a big lake, very frustrating sometime when you can't find the fish! just put some time into it and the lake will reward you.
