Ice fishers face 'unusual year'

INNISFIL - Lake Simcoe will not deal kindly with anyone who gets impatient.
Fish hut operator Chad Paiero, who is also a firefighter, says waiting for safe ice is the only way to enjoy Lake Simcoe’s winter activities.
“We almost had it,” he says, standing amidst dozens of beached shelters in Lefroy. “It was minus 23, so we had a skim across the lake. It held on for two days even when it started warming up, and then it would have been like a normal year, but by the third day it melted. Now it has to start all over again.”
