Sunday Feb 3, 2013 afternoon. Here you can find 6" of solid blue ice. A few ice huts on deep water for whitefish and lake trout but most people were after perch. On 6th Line you can catch decent size perch, 50-70 meters out on drop off (12'-24' of water). On Sunday after 4:00 pm perch action was amazing. ... Read more

Lake Couchiching - Birchmere
The lake was making ice today! I had 9" of blue and 1.5" of white ice under the hut. Perch were biting at a good rate. 2" of powder on the ice makes for good travelling. A pressure crack extends in a north/south direction about 600m from shore, and is more pronounced on the southern end (towards Cedar Island.) It is solid enough to cross safely.... Read more
